Eric Timothy Payton was born December 22, 1955 in Georgia. Graduated High School in 1972. Enter the U.S. Army on June 6, 1973 as a personnel clerk, a few year later crossed trained in the Combat Engineers. Eric has several duty stations both in the US and oversees, he held several positions in the U.S. Army to include Drill Sergeant, Instructor and Range Manager. Eric retired from the U.S. Army on August 01, 1993 with over 20 years of active duty service. Eric returned to the Atlanta, Georgia area and held several jobs, to include over the road truck driver and laying cables for AT&T. In June of 1997 while helping a friend trim some damage tree in his yard from a storm, Eric fell and sustained a spinal cord injury, paralyzing him below the waist. Eric joined the Paralyzed Veterans of America as a member of the Southeastern Chapter located in Augusta Georgia in February 1998. Eric relocated to Texas 1998 and came to the Dallas area shortly after that. In 2002 Eric transferred his PVA membership from the Southeastern chapter to the Lone Star chapter and began doing volunteer work for the chapter. He volunteered at the chapter office and the Dallas VA almost daily after joining the chapter. In 2003 Eric became the Lone Star Chapter’s Treasurer a position he held till 2007 when he was elected President of the Lone Star Chapter, PVA, and has remained in that position ever since. Eric has been on several committees within Lone Star PVA, to include fundraising, VAVS rep, Sports committee and Nomination Committee. Eric has been instrumental in helping the chapter grow and the chapter has become one of the leading chapters within PVA under his leadership. Eric has over 3,000 hours of volunteer service recorded with the Paralyzed Veterans of America.

Mr Blatnik was sceduled to participate in the National Golden Age Games as he does every year but when given the opportunity to return to the beaches of Normandy in France he jumped at the chance to go back. Spinal Cord Injury Annual Evaluation
We are informing you of YOUR UPCOMING SPINAL CORD INJURY ANNUAL EVALUATION APPOINTMENT. PLEASE BE AT THE SCI CLINIC AT 8 AM FOR LAB COLLECTION.
Typically, the day will last from 8am to 3pm to complete all evaluations. You will have thirty minute to one hour long appointments with the the following services:
1. SCI Physician,
2. SCI Physical and Occupational Therapists,
3. SCI Social Worker
4. SCI Psychologist
5. Renal Ultrasound
