United Spinal Association, formerly Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association, is a nonprofit that provides information and services to individuals with spinal cord injury and disease regarding benefits, disability rights advocacy, wheelchairs and barrier-free design. We are dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with spinal cord injury or disease by assuring quality healthcare, promoting research, advocating for civil rights and independence, educating the public about these issues and enlisting their help to achieve these fundamental goals.

The National Spinal Cord Injury Association has many chapters throughout the United States. Some members have physical disabilities while others do not. Chapter members participate in a variety of activities. They work with local and national officials and agencies to develop better programs and services and act as community advocates for improved access, housing, transportation, employment, and leisure time activities for disabled people. http://www.access-board.gov/The Access Board is an independent Federal agency devoted to accessibility for people with disabilities. It operates with about 30 staff and a governing board of representatives from Federal departments and public members appointed by the President.
