The National Veterans Golden Age Games were held in
Des Moines, IA
May 25th – June 1st, 2009
With over 700 veterans competing from around the country
Sports and fitness are vital ingredients of VA’s national rehabilitation special events. Physical activity and friendly competition engage the mind as well as the body, and recreation therapy fills a special need in the lives of older veterans at VA Health Care Centers across the country. The National Veterans Golden Age Games are one of the most progressive and adaptive rehabilitative senior sports programs in the world. We are proud to be a part of these games.
We had a Team of 46 veterans from the North Texas Area.
Our Team won a total of 59 Medals
27 – Gold
16– Silver
16– Bronze
Ms. Sandra Wollerton was also honored this year as HHV Coach of the year. What a wonderful surprise and honor this is.
